“Give me your tired, your poor, your toothless hillbillies with conspiracy theories.” – Engraved on the side of a pickup truck at Tea Party rally.
So Obama coughed up his birth certificate and got Osama. Can you feel that? It’s the feeling of the tea party raging so hard and instantly spinning new conspiracy theories or somehow placing all the credit on good ol’ G.W.B’s policies. Granted, G.W. no doubt helped in some way, but let’s tell it like it is– we’re talking about the “let’s ignore Afghanistan and attack Iraq” days. Not exactly going after Osama, is it? Obama is no golden child, as shown by his hiring of every corrupt financial titan he could get his hands on, just like Bush, however you have to give him credit for re-focusing the U.S. on the real threat: Al-Qaeda and Osama. All the drone strikes along the border, the plans for pushing tons of troops into the region, etc…
Turns out the guy wasn’t hiding in a cave after all, and his influence on the terrorist network was probably still quite strong. Whodathunkit? So anyway, let’s all admit that Osama isn’t a closet socialist with radical ideas of turning this place into Soviet Russia circa 1960 or whatever other crackpot ideas are floating around, and just come to terms with the fact that the guy isn’t perfect, but he’s a damn smart guy and does what he thinks is best.
I’d love for the tea party to focus on the real issues of the day, and just drop all of the nonsense circus acts that surround the party. Ron Paul’s ideas are worth exploring, so let’s talk about that and tell all of the closet racists pretending to care about Obama’s nationality to go home. It’s a shame people can’t just admit, “I’m racist, and I will find any excuse to pretend I have an issue with Obama’s past or policies because I can’t just come out and admit I don’t want a black president.”
So anyway, on to Ron Paul. The guy’s ideas are interesting, but the problem is that he’s going to get run over in the debates, just like he was last time. He has no charisma, and mediocre public speaking ability. The tea party needs a new leader that has a chance of being able to deliver their ideas with some gusto and passion. Until then, it’s just going to be a fringe movement that pulls away enough votes from the other Repub candidates that the dems will walk to victory.
